The Grand Prismatic Spring of Yellowstone

This is my painting with a view overlooking the Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park. This is the largest hot spring in the U.S. I painted it with acrylics and watercolors plus added salt for the special effects in the water. The bright, vivid colors in the spring are the result of microbial mats around the edges of the mineral-rich water.
