Tribute to the great horned owl

This is my acrylic painting on black paper as a tribute to the great horned owl. I was very inspired to do this painting as a tribute after finding an injured great horned owl in my garden. The owls piercing yellow eyes seemed to stare right through me. The owl couldn’t fly. Crows were heckling it and vultures circled overhead. I was excited to help Animal Control rescue it and the owl went to an animal hospital. Sadly, the beautiful owl passed away the next day. These owls are also known as the tiger owl or the hoot owl. Some view great horned owls as the returned souls of the brave. They are often seen as a symbol of wisdom, good luck, prosperity and knowledge.
