Starting in 1884 with the Unions baseball has been a long tradition of Kansas City sports. The Cowboys joined the National League in 1886 and played in other leagues until 1903. The Blues were a successful minor league team from 1886 to 1955 including time when they were the AAA team of the Yankees. The Packers were in the Federal league in 1914-15. The Monarchs were one of the most successful Negro League teams from 1920 to 1962. The Athletics moved to Kansas City from 1955 to 1967. The Royals have been a long running and popular KC team from 1969 to current. The T-Bones has been in the Northern League since 2003.
