The Birdhouses at Dauphin Island

This is my watercolor and ink painting of the popular six colorful, tall and thin beach houses known as the “birdhouses” at Dauphin Island, Alabama. Each of these houses have a covered boat dock on the side facing Bayou Aloe in the Gulf of Mexico. I was very inspired to paint these houses after seeing them while staying on this island. They were originally built for fishermen but today they are summer and vacation homes. The entire island has been designated as a bird sanctuary.
